Chasen Sohenryu

Sohen-ryu is one of the traditional schools of Japanese tea ceremony, founded by Yamada Soen, a disciple of Sen Sotan. Rooted in Sotan’s style and enriched by samurai influence, this school emphasizes refined elegance, freedom in expression, and the beauty of minimalism.

This style has been preserved and passed down as both an art and a discipline—often regarded as the true successor to Rikyu’s teachings. It remains beloved in regions such as Mikawa, Edo, Karatsu, and Nagaoka, continuing to inspire practitioners today.

This chasen features around 80 tines, carefully designed for a light, comfortable grip and effortless use. Ideal for whisking usucha (thin tea) or matcha lattes, it creates a smooth, airy foam with minimal effort—even for beginners.
